At Students of STEM, we offer free, high-quality classes in subjects such as Scratch Programming, Python Programming, and Challenge Math. Classes are typically 4-6 sessions long (though they can be adjusted based on the student’s needs). Furthermore, there are classes available for nearly all grades/skill levels.

All classes are held online via Zoom, and they are 100% free of charge! After completing all sessions, students will receive a certificate of completion highlighting their efforts!

Scratch for Beginners

Beginner, Recommended 1st-6th Grade

This Scratch programming class is great for beginners looking to break into the world of coding! Through Scratch‘s simple visual interface, young people can learn to create digital stories, games, and animations in an easy manner. The first session for this class will give a general overview of Scratch and the various parts/programming blocks. For the remaining sessions, volunteers will guide students through various hands-on projects. This can help students gain foundational programming knowledge that they can later use to create their own games or build off of in the future.


Python for Beginners

Intermediate, Recommended 5th-12th Grade

This Python Programming class is great for students who want to dive deeper by learning a text-based coding language! Python is one of the fastest-growing programming languages that can be used for many things such as creating scripts, building websites, conducting data analysis, and more. These sessions will progressively introduce various concepts such as variables, while loops, if statements, for loops, lists, etc. Along the way, students can apply their skills by solving coding puzzles and creating small games. This will help students attain the Python skills necessary to build their own practical projects in the future.


Challenge Math & Problem Solving

Recommended All Levels, All Grades

This Challenge Math class is great for students who want to enrich their mathematical and analytical thinking skills through various competition math problems. To do this, tutors will teach various problem-solving concepts by walking through competition math problems best suited to the student’s abilities. This class is open to all levels, from beginners who want to grow foundation math skills to advanced people looking to prepare for prestigious math competitions such as Mathcounts, ARML, AMC, etc. This class is a great way for students to gain hands-on experience and problem-solving skills to tackle challenge-math problems.
